What To Wear For Nightlife In Berlin

I honestly didn’t do much research on nightlife before visiting, I didn’t think Berlin would be so particular.

The club scene is mostly techno music. If you're not into that, I’d suggest sticking to bars or less popular clubs.

You’d think less equals more, but that’s not the case from what I observed, especially seeing the many people that got turned away; everyone dressed in the same dark clothes, leather, and mesh would get you through the doors. Going in small groups would help as well. Unless you're on a guest list. A larger woman ratio than man always helps, but still, 2-3 people max; some clubs expect you to know the DJ and lineup, which almost didn’t work out in my favor.

What to expect?

Waiting, Berliners love to wait in line, which means tourists follow the leaders. They’ll wait 2-3 hours, especially for the more popular club.

If you’re visiting on a regular day, covers can be €10-€15. I was visiting during New Year’s Eve, so the cover charge was 40€.

Even if you prepay for a ticket, you can be turned away, and they don't tell you why I've seen it with my own eyes. Everyone has different experiences but this is what I’ve experienced and observed.
