Lake Como Travel Diary

I started from Milan, I hopped on a train to Como Lago from the ticket station is a 1-minute walk if you’re going during the summer, and the line can be long. we arrived about 12pm but didn’t get on the boat until about 2pm there were fast and slow boats. you can only get tickets on the day of departure. Tickets are about $14 one way, depending on the station.

If you’re going during summer it can be confusing there are two lines one for buying tickets and one for purchasing depending where you are in the line it'll appear as one line.

Save yourself time and buy your tickets in advance so you don’t have to wait in that line.

Transportation-

Ubers aren’t a thing in Lake Como, which can slow you down making a day trip, and taxis aren’t cheap.

I met up with my friend and her mother and brother to go to Lake Como

Things To Do -

Villa Hopping - I highly recommend spending at least 1 night in Lake Como. doing a day trip is doable, but you’ll feel rushed unless you leave early on the first Ferry, and it’s so many places to visit. I visited Mennagio, Bellagio & Varenna.

These charming towns are like something out of a postcard; the cobbled streets, colorful buildings, and lake views are just stunning Ladies do not wear heels unless just for pictures.

Many rent a kayak, paddleboard, or private boat, a fun way to explore the towns.

Dining with a View

For the ultimate Lake Como experience, dine at one of the lakeside restaurants. Many people say lake como is expensive, I feel accommodations can be if you’re going in the summer, but food and drinks seem average, and if I’m going to such a beautiful place, I want to soak in the views and get my money’s worth, but be careful dining under trees birds will poop on you and your food with no remorse speaking from experience.

Activities

While everytown has something charming I highly recommend visiting Varenna

Check out the beautiful Botanical Gardens at Villa Monastero.

I felt two days wasn’t enough time, especially since we went to sleep early the first night; as I boarded the ferry back to Como Lago, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for this unforgettable journey. Lake Como is a place I’ll never forget. If you’re looking for an alternate luxurious place with beautiful Lake views but way more affordable read about my trip Exploring Guatamala Lake Atitlan is worth visiting.
