6 Reasons Why It's Important To Move Away From Your Hometown

Hey Guys,

So I recently visited my hometown of Chicago and gosh I had such a wonderful time. I didn't want to leave. I got the chance to reconnect with family and friends as well as new acquaintances.
Throughout my trip I experienced so much nostalgia from my childhood but more so my teenage years right before I moved to away.

Appreciation
Once I moved away, my Chicago pride grew even more. I always bragged about the amazing summer events Chicago had to offer and how good the food was. I try to visit home at least once a year and every time I came back I had family and friends eager to see me. It's one of the best feelings ever.

Comfort
Most people love the feeling of security. Moving to a new city, or a country is a scary feeling. I remember when I first moved to France it was pretty overwhelming trying to learn a new language but also making friends as an adult isn't the easiest. When you're in unconventional situations, you're forced to get out of your comfort zone and eventually experience something that could turn out good and other times ugly but in the end we learn right?

Learn yourself
When you’re in a different environment you get a chance to experience new things that shape your outlook on life. Whether that’s dating in a new city, being around different ethnic groups, maybe you come from a very strict family or from small town where everyone knows one another. Sometimes it’s nice to getaway without restrictions on your life.
I think it’s important to experience things you've always wanted to try and learn what works and doesn't work for YOU.

Independence
When I moved to LA then later to France I had no one to depend on I mean yes could always go back home or if I was broke I could reach out to family but was too prideful and honestly had to prove to myself that I could make it on my own. When you’re far away from your reliable resources you're forced to think on your feet whether that’s getting your next job, repairing you car, getting trustworthy roommates or heck even your next meal.

The Real Ones
Since I’ve moved to LA many friendships died or I just outgrew them due to time and distance.
Distance really helps you realize who's really there for you and who never was. Being alone in a new city you'll definitely need a support system

Returning
It's okay to eventually go back home, sometimes a new city isn't what you thought it would be, if you're from a tight knit family this could be extremely difficult or you may have moved away for a dream job but unfortunately things just didn't fall into place as expected but you won't know unless you try right?
