Nara is a cute deer-roaming city about an hour outside of Osaka.

It’s plenty of things to do and see, but then again, it’s still a small town, so you can easily do a lot for a day trip.

Where To Eat-

Here are a few places you should check out.

Kamameshi Shizuka Kouen-ten-

While heading to explore, we were curious why so many people were lined up at this restaurant early. After exploring the park, we decided to check this place out, and it was well worth it. I’ve never had kamameshi, a Japanese rice dish cooked in an iron pot called a kama.

For Vegans and vegetarians - I do not remember the name, but directly next door to Kamameshi Shizuka is an all-you-can-eat restaurant that doesn’t serve meat.

Pounding Mochi - If you’re into mochi, this place is worth checking out but not a must-try. They pound it fresh in front of you.

Kitahara - If you love Soba Noodles or want to try them, this is a great spot to check out.

Melon de Melon -  has the best melon pan bread I have ever had. I still dream. about it

Things to do

Todai-ji Temple - to see the Great Buddha,

Nara Park - Feed and interact with deer.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine

Nigatsu Hall - Overlooks Nara, but it is a climb, so wear comfortable shoes

Sage-iike pond - Go for a stroll in the botanical gardens

Massage—After all the exploring, your legs will be tired and sore. Treat yourself to a massage.
